Whereas left-wing Jewish groups harm America & Israel, few organizations are as wretched as the extremists of The New Israel Fund.
Labor Zionist leader Berl Katznelson once asked, “Is there another People on Earth so emotionally twisted that they consider everything their nation does despicable and hateful, while every murder, rape, robbery committed by their enemies fill their hearts with admiration and awe?” The New Israel Fund (NIF) is an organization that does exactly what Katznelson described.
The New Israel Fund (NIF), which supports BDS, cooperates with the United Nations to harm Israel, and is a constant negative force for the Jewish State. As former President Clinton advisor Hank Sheinkopf noted “Those who stand with New Israel Fund are standing against Israel. To suggest otherwise is a lie. I urge anyone affiliated with the NIF to stop supporting this organization financially.” He is right.
The unfortunate reality is that there are American Jewish left-wing leaders who stand silent in the backdrop of BDS. Hypocrites like the JCRC, and Michael Miller who applauded Scarlett Johannson with a Facebook post reading “Go Scarlett, go! Go Scarlett, go! Go Scarlett go!” at the same time endorse BDS by refusing to act as Scarlett Johansson did by repudiating NIF. JCRC’s board member Karen R. Adler who also serves as President of the Jewish Communal Fund actively and vocally supports The New Israel Fund.
Alisa Doctoroff, the President of the UJA-Federation, is a donor to NIF, and yet she has not yet been removed from her position as one of the most powerful Jews in America — despite the fact that it has been exposed that she donates to an organization that supports and actively works to boycott Israel.
Other NIF donors, such as Peter Ascoli emanate from famous families who have a long history of Jewish animosity towards Israel. Peter’s grandfather, Julius Rosenwald, was Chairman & President of Sears, the largest retailer in America, whose biographer noted, “Unlike many of his contemporaries in the Jewish community, he had no interest in Zionism, feeling that a homeland in Israel had nothing to offer American Jews, who had already found a land of opportunity in which to flourish and grow.” The money Rosenwald made at Sears is still being used today to harm Israel.
Then there are conspiracy theorists who think like Sally Gottesman, a major NIF donor who has written that
“Many Israelis on the left feel that their government cynically manipulated them regarding the kidnappings and deaths of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaer and Eyal Yifrah. We now know that within days the government was almost totally sure the boys were dead – they had evidence of bullets in the car, which was found with the help of the Palestinian Authority police, as well as the tape to the police. And yet, they covered it up. Many believe the government wanted to use the time until the bodies were found to intimidate Palestinians, round up Hamas members, and “create Jewish unity.” When the bodies of the boys were found, the government had to end these manipulative deeds. Instead they began to incite violence and revenge with words.”
Ugly, absurd conspiracy theorist who surmises that the tiny, democratic State of Israel wants their soldiers killed to create Jewish unity. The entire Jewish people wants peace.
These are the people Lenin spoke of when he called those who work against their own people’s best interests in support of their enemies “helpful idiots.” Harvard professor Ruth Wisse has noted “the rapid demoralization of Jews in the face of anti-Zionism… shows the depth of the influence of the past, for many have yet to achieve the simple self-respect that has been eluding the Jews collectively since the dawn of modernity.”
According to Midstream Magazine,
In an editorial in the New York-based Revisionist journal Zionews in 1944, [Benzion] Netanyahu sharply challenged Jewish leaders: ‘They cannot claim, with a clear conscience, to have done everything within their power to save those condemned people. They have been too cautious, too appeasing, and too ready to swallow the meaningless statements of sympathy that were issued from high places.”
The sad reality is that the sentiments Netanyahu described in 1944 still ring true today. These leftist Jewish leaders harm peace – along with American and Israeli interests by supporting the extremist, radical New Israel Fund which harms the sole democracy in the Middle East.
